Peter has lived for the last ten hears between China and India. He is fluent in Chinese but his Kazakh could be better!
Following his passion for film, Peter started out in 2007 being commissioned to write the music score for locally
based video production projects in Shanghai.
In late 2007 he cofounded Shanghai based Daedalum Films, an independent film group producing high quality media for international clients, including GM, Webber Shandwick, Touch Media, and a range of local clients. As well as these commercial videos, Peter pursued his own creative projects, producing and directing short documentaries including Yushan Island, Earthen Houses, the music video Shanghai Moves and the short film Rubble.
In 2009 Peter left Daedalum films to live with seminomadic Kazakh herders in China’s western Xinjiang province. There he completed ‘Life of a Hunter’ a full length documentary about a young falconer whose traditional way of life is threatened by China’s fast development. This film was awarded Best Cinematography at TWIFF 2011. Peter’s films have been screened at several film festivals. Recently he was selected to attend Rotterdam Lab 2011, a workshop event for producers from around the world that took place concurrently with Rotterdam International Film Festival.
Since the completion of ‘Life Of A Hunter’ Peter has settled in India because he is drawn by the unique aesthetic expressed in Indian independent film. He has recently produced with Rajesh Shera ‘Echoes’, a fictional feature film set in the Andaman Islands. He also has several other films in development in London and India. When not moving around on film work he lives in Shantiniketan, West Bengal, creation of the Bengali writer Rabindranath Tagore.
